Friday the 19th of August is WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY, and we’re inviting you to celebrate with us by supporting the worthy New Zealand charity, Foster Hope. Foster Hope works to improve the lives of children in foster care. They provide children with necessities to ease their way and symbolise community support for the children and their carers.
One of the many things Foster Hope does is make up backpacks to be given to children when they are removed from their homes. This has a carry all bag containing toiletries and some items that will show them they are loved.
It’s for these reasons we’re welcoming donations of the following items, which Foster Hope have informed us are in high demand:
New toothbrushes, toothpaste, and face cloths
New or good-condition second-hand books
Please send any donations into school by August 19, World Humanitarian Day, as they will be given to Foster Hope shortly after. These can be dropped to the main office or to your child's classroom. “When Foster Hope gives a young child one of these packs, it’s often the first thing that they’ve been given. These simple packs don’t just help with basic hygiene, they give hope. Hope that yes, someone out there actually does care. Hope that yes, someone out there is looking after them.”
Some of our gorgeous Year 6 boys helping us to sort out all the donations from our Primary families for Foster Hope NZ. As they worked I could hear them talking about how good it made them feel to be helping others. This is exactly why we have this focus on "Growing Good People"
